Setup instructions
Please follow the below instruction to ensure you can connect to the ZeroNet dialup and e-mail service.
Windows users should go to "Dialup Networking" to create a new Dial-Up account.
- Click on "Make a New Connection", call it "ZeroNet".
- Select the modem you want from the drop-down box.
- Click "Next"
- If your system has problems running at 115,000 baud click on "Configure" and choose the setting of 57,600 Bd. If not select 115,000.
- Click "OK"
- Click "Next"
- Enter area code "08453", telephone number "600012", select Country code "United Kingdom (44)".
- Tick "Use area code and Dialling Properties"
- Click "OK"
- Click "Next"
- Enter the Connection name: "ZeroNet"
- Click on "Finish".
- This has established the new Dial-Up number. Now you need to make sure that it will use the appropriate protocols and send the appropriate information.
- Go to "My Computer", "Dial-Up Networking" and right-click on "ZeroNet" or whatever you have called the new Dial-Up.
- Click on the tab marked "Server Types".
- Ensure that only the "TCP/IP" box has a tick - ALL other boxes should be empty (un-ticked).
- Click on the tab marked "TCP/IP Settings" and ensure that the following are selected:
- "Server assigned IP address" (should have a dot in the box) "Server assigned name server address" (should have a dot in the box) "Use default gateway on remote network" (should have a tick in the box)
- The "Use IP header compression" box should be empty.
- Click "OK"
- Click "OK"
- Double-Click on the "ZeroNet" Icon
- Enter your user name in the format "username@zeronet.co.uk" (original long term users should use their user number in the - format z100*****@zeronet.co.uk), and your normal ZeroNet Password. Then tick "Save password".
- Click "Connect"
- Your computer should now dial into the Internet and access the ZeroNet server. You should see a box headed "Connection established".
- Click "Close" to close this box.
- Close your Internet access - this is usually shown as a pair of small computer screens in the lower right-hand corner of your display.
- Right-click on these and click on "Disconnect".
- You have now successfully set up a TCP/IP Network to connect you to our Internet service through which you can send and receive e-mails and browse the web.
Your web browser - FireFox, MS Internet Explorer, Netscape, Opera, or whatever you use, will also need to know about your new ZeroNet access details.
Most have a "Tools" tab under which you should find something like "Internet Options", which should offer you something like "Default Dial-Up". Select "ZeroNet", or whatever you have called you new service.
Click "OK"
